"Whose guest shall you be when the curtains finally close?"
When you draw your last breath, are you sure of an eternity at God’s side? Ecclesiastes 3:20- All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again. Today we are here tomorrow we are gone. Death is a topic we all shy away from but it is inevitable. The effort we put in to have a fancy life is adorable. We go through various higher learning institutions with the hope of securing a brighter future for not just us, but also our future generations. At work we put our best foot forward to earn that salary increment or get a promotion. In the social space, we toil to have a celebrity status with tons of followers in various social platforms. The same struggle to have a better relationship with God is not seen in our spiritual life. We swear to worship Him and adore Him but our actions say otherwise, (Matthew 15:8-9).
We often worry about the "here and now" instead of eternity. All that is in the world shall pass away but God’s word will remain. Have we reduced God into a fellow human being? We spend less time with Him but expect Him to move mountains when we shout out His name once in a while. We tell ourselves...He is God, I am sure He understands today I am not in the mood to pray…today I am so busy old man let us talk later... What if God was too busy to wake you up or send His only son to save us from Himself? We call Him friend but it is clear we see Him as a Father Christmas or candy man. When you stand before Him on that fateful day, will He know you or will the devil be holding a feast for your soul…whose visitor shall you be?
We all hope to enter into God’s rest at the end of this life. We can do this by putting more effort in our walk with God. Let us talk less and do more as Christians. Paul urges us to walk the talk. The energy and focus we use to pursue our life goals is the same energy or even more that we should use to chase after God wholeheartedly. This of course we cannot attain by our own might but through our God. We don’t have to live in fear of death as God’s beloved children. We don’t have to have doubts in our mind about our final destination when we die. Provided we stick to God and allow Him to work in our lives, I believe we can be reunited with Him in heaven.
As you move up and about, ponder on whose guest you shall be.
